The MGP Nitro is now called the “End of Days.” Perhaps this is a reference to the recent
speculation that the world will end in 2012 because of some ancient Mayan calendar. True or not, it makes for a cool scooter theme and the design on this beauty is really spectacular to look at.
New for 2012
MGP updated their whole line of scooters for 2012 and they have really gone out of their way to add best and newest technology to make these scooters a notch above anything else out there.
The Nitro Scooter takes us to the high end of stunt scooters. That means you’ll find upgrades in certain parts to the professional level. So aside from the great stuff in all of Madd Gear’s products, the Nitro’s improvements include threadless headsets and threadless forks, Hidden Internal Compression (HIC) system, 4.5 inch wide deck, 21 inch bat wing swoop bars, and 110mm wheels with Krunk K-2 bearings. That’s a lot, I know. So let’s take a more detailed look at this beauty.
I’ve got to start with the graphics on this stunner. It features the End of Days graphics on the down tube, deck tape and wheels. This is a gorgeous, colorful graphic as you can see in the pic. And this isn’t some sticker either. These graphics are laser printed water decals – really high quality. This scoot comes in 6 different color schemes: black, blue, green, orange, pink, and purple.
FSA Headset
Next we have the FSA headset which MADD now uses on all their scooters. FSA stands for the company Full Speed Ahead which makes the best headsets available. With the Nitro you get the Orbit MX Headset which is a threadless headset – one step better than the threaded headsets of the previous two models. These headsets have an alloy top cover, forged and CNC machined 6061/T6 alloy cups and black seal angular contact bearings. And also different from the pro models are the 3D forged threadless forks. The process used to make these integrates multiple parts into single forged pieces, reducing overall weight and increasing strength. It has a MADD Hidden Internal Compression system (the best of the compression systems) that is easy to remove and maintain.

Then we have the deck which is a half inch wider on the Nitro at 4.5 inches. It’s fluted like on the other models which makes it 30% lighter and 30% stronger. One addition to the deck is the laser etching of ‘NITRO’ on the bottom of the deck which looks way cool. The deck tape is MGP’s patented Shock Grip Tape to help out your knees and ankles on those long days at the Skate Park. The deck on this baby weighs only 3.24 LBS/1.47KGS.
The bars look awesome with a 21 inch bat wing swoop, made from chromoly tempered steel known for its super strength to weight ratio. The down tube is scalloped for lighter weight and great looks, plus we have the 82.5 degree angle for the perfect feel. Then the bars are topped off with MGP’s Gorilla grips that don’t slip when wet from sweaty palms.
Bars/Wheels
The bearings are Krunk 2 which are thought to be equivalent to abec 9 but don’t quote me on that! Finally the alloy core wheels are 110mm – a little bigger than the Pro and Team scooters. I love the white with the End of Days graphic on them. And they come with Krunk 2 bearnings which are roughly equivalent to ABEC 9’s

Bottom Line
This is my personal favorite among the MPG scooters. Pro level parts, hot looks, incredible feel. It’s really hard to find a better scooter than this out there on the market today. So if you want the best… look no further!
